Öder, İlkay Bora

Ilkay Bora Oder is a young composer who was born in Turkey, has come into contact with music through rock and electric guitar, of which he is a virtuoso. In 2010, with the Erasmus project, he arrived in Italy and didn’t return back and studied composition with M° Claudio Perugini, piano with M° Sandro Rancitelli in Conservatory of L’Aquila “A. Casella”. In 2016 he earned the Academic title with the highest marks, and his orchestral composition “Anatolia” was performed in public concert by the Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese directed by Nil Venditti.
In 2017 he participated “Insieme Music Festival” of Perugia and his compositions performed by violoncello player Francesco Pepicelli and violin player Paolo Franceschini. And the same year started to collaborate with mandolin virtuoso Francesco Mammola and Ciurlionis Quartet and his compositions performed in Vilnius, Plunge – Lithuania. And transmetted by LRT, (Lithuanian National TV and Radio). For Francesco Mammola and Ciurlionis quartet he wrote an original composition, “Tombik” which Francesco Mammola discussed his thesis of master degree study in mandolin.
In 2018 he participated “MusAnima Music Festival” with his orchestral piece “Çelişki”. Composed for Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese, performed in public concerts in Teramo, Pescara and L’Aquila directed by Marco Moresco. He composed a string quartet and dedicated it to Ciurlionis Quartet which earned first prize in “Cortemilia International Music Competition” later in october performed in public concerts Birzai, Trakai, Klaipeda – Lithuania.
On september 2018 he earned the II level of Academic title (Master’s Degree in Film Music Composition) under the guidance of M° Carlo Crivelli and earned it with the highest marks, lode and “Menzione d’Onore”. For his thesis of Master’s Degree he proposed his version of “Easy Street” by Charlie Chaplin. Same year for cinema he collaborated with a Turkish director Aycan Koptur and wrote music for her film “Catharsis”. And he started to work as “Composer in Residence” in Musica Vitale Association, Vilnius, Lithuania for one year. His music pieces Anatolia, Rüzgar and Tombik has been published by Da Vinci Music Publishing in 2019. During his “Composer in Residence” time he composed many chamber and orchestral pieces Such as “Asi” for Baltic Sextet and “Naif” for l’Ensemble Baroque "Réunion de Musiciens". He gave seminars about “Composer, Composing and Different Work Possibilities in Composing Area Today” and he made a radio interview with Vita Ličytė on "Young Composer in Vilnius" in LRT Radio. In july 2019 he collaborated with Pierpaola Ippoliti for the 50th Anniversary of Moon Landing Astrophysic Seminar and he composed two dedicated video for the event. For cinema he collaborated with Carla di Ilio for her original short movie “La Rosa Dimentica” and he composed its trailer and teaser videos’ music. He is also an active performer as a pianist also and gave two concerts in Turkish Embassy upon requests by Exellences Turkish Ambassador Aydan Yamancan. He is higly active in music and computer technology area and he is continuisly in contact with industry standart software’s devolopment teams such as Sibelius Ultimate and Wallander Instruments. In october 29 in honor of the festival of Turkish Republic Day, he gave a concert in Kempinsky, Vilnius/Lithuania, upon request by Turkish Ambassador Excellences Gökhan Turan and he played also his arrangement of two Turkish folk songs on the piano. The first music critics has highlighted Bora as an “passionate” composer who highly knows the value of rhythms and melodies from his earth, Turkey, of his story, “rock” and more importantly, great western music.
