Grandis, Vincenzo de

Vincenzo de Grandis was an Italian composer of the late Renaissance and early Baroque period. He was born in Montalbòddo (now Ostra near Ancona, It.) in 1577. He began his musical career as a singer and later as a composer in Rome. He was ordained a priest round 1600. In 1604 he was chapel master at the S. Spirito in Saxia (Saxon); later in the papal chapel by order of Pope Paul V, and so on to the Sistine Chapel. Apart from his duties at the chapel he took part in functions in various Roman churches. He died in Montalbòddo in 1646.
