componist

Knight, William

William Knight started his musical career as a chorister of St Paul’s Cathedral, London. He read Music at the University of York whilst singing as the Tenor Choral Scholar at York Minster. He now works as a composer and professional freelance singer in the Netherlands, and is a core member of the Nederlands Kamerkoor.
William has enjoyed composing since the age of 7 and it has been an important aspect of music throughout his musical education. After university he started out by performing many of his compositions (songs) in recitals around the UK, both with an accompanist and accompanying himself on the piano. It was only after moving to the Netherlands that he properly began his career as a composer. He has now had works performed by groups such as the Nederlands Kamerkoor, the Utrechtste Studenten Cantorij, the Windsor Consort, Kamerkoor Next, and het Ronsard Trio.
Working as a professional singer, William is able to draw on this ability to write choral music from a singer’s perspective. He also enjoys composing for many different instrumentations, drawing on his knowledge in the field of music and colleagues.
