Legin, Danijel

Danijel Legin has received Stjepan Šulek Foundation composition award in 2009, Dean of the Music Academy award, Croatian Composers Society stipend and support from Ministry of Culture of Republic of Croatia for several years (2011, 2016 and 2018).
Born in Zagreb, Croatia (1984), studied mathematics before switching to classical composition. Graduated in 2010 at the Zagreb Academy of Music in the class of composer Frano Parać. He participated in several masterclasses (with composers Berislav Šipuš, Giel Vleggaar, Sonemus ensemble, Sonanza ensemble, Cantus ensemble), most recently with distinguished Hollywood composer and orchestrator Conrad Pope.
His compositions have been performed in Croatia and abroad, including festivals such as Gaudeamus Music Week and Music Biennale Zagreb. He works as a teaching assistant at the Composition and Music Theory Department of Zagreb Academy of Music and as a freelance music copyist/editor for various publishers in Europe and US. He has produced more than 100 publications for such publishers as Donemus, Omni Music Publishing Los Angeles, Edition-S Denmark, Cantus Croatia, etc.
His interest in film music led to him working for Hollywood in Vienna festival, preparing several film score publications for Omni Music Los Angeles, orchestrating and arranging for film composer Dalibor Grubačević and working on the project of preservation of Croatian film music at Croatian Film Institute.
