Donemus Webwinkel — Rusanovsky, Leon

Leon Rusanovsky was born in Kiev, Ukraine. He has lived in the Netherlands for 40 years and has worked as second principal viola in the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra. He was also active as a teacher at various German conservatories. As a performing musician he performs as a soloist, participates in master classes and plays chamber music. Besides viola he also plays other instruments such as violin, guitar and piano. His attention is also focused on other genres, such as jazz and popular styles and he is also involved in jazz improvisation on the viola. He was one of the first Dutch people to be invited to perform at the famous "Blue Note" in New York, with fellow musicians such as Chick Corea and Toots Thielemans.
Composing has always been an important aspect in life. A life-long experience as an arranger for several European radio stations has lead to composing his own compositions in different genres. From voice and light music to film music, chamber-orchestra setting and major classical music form. His works are performed in inland and abroad, such as in New York, Chicago, Moscow, Belarus, and Poland. He composes for various ensemble-settings such as chamber music, jazz band and solo works.
