Toelichting:
Originally, Song of Backyards was a violin improvisation I did to a choreography by Joost Vrouenraets in his production with Gotra Ballet. The performance took place on 18th September 2009 at the “Musica Sacra Festival” in Maastricht (The Netherlands). I made an archival recording of this event, and a month later, I wrote down the music from the recording. With a few small alterations, it became this concert piece for violin solo. This version was performed during Prof. Saschko Gawriloff’s masterclass at the 2015 Carl Flesch Academy in Baden-Baden (Germany). In October 2019, I made a few more revisions. I did the world première of this revised version on 13th October 2019 at the Aachen Theatre (Germany).
