At the Gate : Overture for orchestra / Michael Fine
Overige auteurs:

(Componist)
Toelichting:
This orchestral overture has nothing to do with airports. While my friends may easily make this assumption due to the peripatetic nature of my work as a recording producer, this particular gate is the entry to the beautiful Deoksugang Palace in Seoul. Although surrounded by modern buildings, the Gate opens to the graceful and elegant palace grounds taking one back to another Korea before western influences helped shape the modern country. The overture reflects both worlds, an overture to an imaginary Korean drama telling a story of two different times but connected by a common thread. The piece begins with the hectic bustle of today’s Seoul but is quickly left behind as one passes through the gate to the serene gardens of the palace grounds with a bassoon solo singing a wordless melody, accompanied by the harp.
