Siyâh Mashq III : for harpsichord / Idin Samimi Mofakham
Toelichting:
Siyâh Mashq, literally translated as “black practice” in Persian, are calligraphic practice sheets, which include many diagonal words and letters used in various combinations on the folio. As for his practice, the calligrapher searches for unique vision and puts the words facing upwards and downwards, creating an intricate but fascinating artwork. The beauty of Siyâh Mashq lies in its complexity and involute texture, its pulsing rhythm and repetition, which can mesmerize me for hours.
Siyâh Mashq III, inspired by the complex song structures and intricate riffs of the extreme metal genre and the modal music of Iranian classical music, is my third attempt at creating a piece for Harpsichord.
