Bijzonderheden: The score is for oboe and soundtracks, the published parts are those for oboe, soprano-saxophone and electric guitar. Based on a poem by William Blake, was composed for oboist Bart Schneemann in 2002. 
It works also very well on flute, xylophone or violin, as well as for guitar. I was transposed in 2003 for soprano sax or Bb clarinet. Visual artist Amber Boardman created a concert video in 2005.

Toelichting:
In the poem by William Blake, a man visits a garden from his childhood, and finds a chapel and priests, 'The Garden of Love' having changed into something dispiriting and loveless. The speaker argues that religion should have a focus on love, freedom and joy, as it once did, not rules and restrictions, as he finds now.
In order to create a musical garden of love based on Blake’s lyrics, melody and rhythm of spoken word and bird sounds were written down in musical notation. The elaborate score is meant to understand the soundtrack. It contains both the solo part as well as all audio ingredients: voices, oboe & harpsichord samples and a variety of bird songs and electronic sounds. The music is a dialogue between live instrument and speech as well as bird songs.
