Toelichting:
The Japanese title means: voice and wisdom. The first movement is based on authentic Japanese buddhist chants, to which I added a melodic counterpoint, creating a dialogue for the baritone sax and the chanting monks. In the second movement, the reciting monks build a ground to which I added a different melodic counterpoint. The third movement, also for alto sax, leads into an endless void, a musical meditation.
