Program note (English): Toque was made in an effort to expose the incredible sonorous richness of the acoustic guitar in the most integrated way possible. A wide range of articulations and instrumental colours is used from a specially designed bottleneck for glissandi up to a whole section devoted to the exhibition of very complex chords of harmonics.
The two guitar parts are each other's complement i.e. they are designed to sound like one instrument. In case of amplification (required at any performance in a concert hall) no attempt at stereophonic reproduction should be made. The two guitars are even complementary in the way they are tuned differently, with the quartertone as unit interval. - JAN VRIEND
