Program note (English): For many years I have admired the poetry of the Dutch poet Ida Gerhardt (1905-1997). The shape and contents of her famous poem 'Clara Haskil' with its beautiful metaphors were most inspiring for me when composing this work. I hope that it will be just as inspiring for the player. The Italian title and terms describing the various musical fragments were chosen espressly to convey the archaic character of the work. - DAAN MANNEKE
