Missa super Vado ad eum (20’)
Missa super Enceladi coeique soror (19’15”)
Missa super Alla dolce ombra (20'30")
Toelichting:
The three masses presented here are the transcriptions of a beautifully calligraphed choirbook in the Bavarian State Library in Munich, published in 1550. These are so-called parody masses: built on a theme from an early motet, madrigal, chanson or Gregorian chant. Vado ad eum is a Gregorian antiphon in the vesper of the 4th Sunday after Easter. Enceladi coeique soror is a secular motet by Jacquet, honouring the Gonzaga family and its horses. Alla dolce ombra is a madrigal for five voices by Cipriano de Rore.
