Suite Dreams : for two accordions / Benjamin de Murashkin
Toelichting:
Dancing the line between pastiche and minimalist make-over, this 21st-century take on a baroque suite plays with the expectations that a long tradition carries with it. Each movement takes as its starting point the barest kernel of the original dances’ distinguishing characteristics and moulds them, through repetition and development, into small pieces. From the staggering amount of upbeats in the Allemande to the effervescent swiftness of the Gigue, Suite Dreams is a whimsical throwback to a bygone era reimagined through a modern lens.
