Toelichting:
The origin of the name of my hometown is uncertain. It could refer to a “bright place” – Leuk – as it was called among the first European populations. What is certain is that the city has always boasted a glorious musical tradition. The composer Gioseffo Guami (1542–1611) is part of this constellation of composers and musicians who have made the city “bright” – at least in an artistic sense. My composition starts from two “canzonas” that Guami has written. They have been “filtered” and varied and have given rise to my piece.
