Program note (English): Gezang XXIII consists of five pages for the violin and three for the percussion. The order of the pages is free, both for the violin and the percussion, in addition to which it is possible to make a selection from them. The sections can be built up into a whole based on the players' judgement after consultation. Preference should be given not to play together continuously. The score has been printed partly in regular notation, and partly in graphic notation. It will be a challenge to the imagination of the performers. Each player will interact upon what he hears from the other. The percussion instruments are untuned membraphones and idiophones of indefinite pitch. - WILL EISMA
