Program note (English): The work is in three sections: Part I uses tom-toms only, Part II uses woodblocks only, Part III uses brake drums (or heavy, metal substitutes). The percussionists should be situated one on each corner of the performing space when done with dance and on each corner of the audience in a concert performance. The work is always loud and driving. These factors enable the listener to physically experience the rhythmic planes and the sounds leaping through space. - JAMES FULKERSON
