Linkerhand en rechterhand [Left hand and Right hand] was written in Hilversum in 1976. The first section, Gaande, with a supple and strict rhythm, is mainly one-part and for the left hand only. Halfway through the right hand takes over, while the left hand plays the sustained fifth c-g. With this simple set-up De Leeuw appears to subtly experiment with progressing quasi modal motion and hidden relations between partials and between pitches.
